May 20, 2012 My name is Edward Smith, I’ve been a student of the arts since 1963. At age five with the prompting of my father, a singer/musician as was my mother. Living in a family of artist and musicians the arts were a family staple. A graduate of Lansing Eastern High School in 1978 and Kendall School of design, which was a two year commercial art program. I have taught art since I was 17 years old, beginning at Oak Park Elementary in Lansing, Michigan and continued as a tutor for over thirty years in my home as well as within educational institutions. I could simplify my statement by stating that the two influences of my art are; H.W. Janson, History of Art and my I-pod Nano filled with music. But realistically at my age...
