Thank you, Gwendolyn! Your experience with these fascinating birds will no doubt give you endless inspiration! Your photographs are lovely. Water birds are one of my favorite subjects. We've moved to Raleigh, NC, but have a lake in our back yard where a huge Great Blue Heron lives. We also have swans. So I should never get bored for lack of subject matter.

Hello, Pamela. I have just begun posting my amateur photography work on FAA. I live on the Elk River in north Alabama and am fortunate to be able to enjoy these Egrets and Blue Herons Within the last 3 or so years, pelicans have begun gracing our river!!! Love this!

Thank you so much for the encouragement--I have enjoyed many wonderful hours at Magnolia Gardens and love to share some of the sights in my artwork. Egrets and Blue Herons fascinate me!

Hello thanks for posting some of your work in my wildlife group the colors are great. I added them to the featured section of the group.

Love this painting! The colors are so soft.

Artist's Description

This egret was posing especially for me on one of the many afternoons I spent at Magnolia Gardens when I lived in the Charleston, SC area. Backlighting seems to glow through this vey elegant bird's fringing feathers. The original is 1 1/2" gallery wrapped canvas, with the compostion of moss-draped oaks extending around the sides of the painting.

My love of living in the South is lavished into my subject matter as an artist and author, inspiring me to categorize my work as Southern Ambiance. I spent the first few years of my life in Charleston, South Carolina, and returned later in life for a few more years in which Charleston and the SC coast became solidified as my creative muse. The novels and legends in the Painter Place saga blend my roles as an artist and an author. Tidbits about the life of an artist and the basic elements of art are woven as a thread throughout the books. The series portrays creative expression as a gift that can be used to contribute to...
