Grand Traverse Lighthouse was built in 1852 to mark the entrance into Grand Traverse Bay from Lake Michigan. The automatic light tower was erected in 1972. Since 1986 the lighthouse has served as a museum. It is located near Northport, Michigan in Leelanau State Park at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula.
