The Grande Ballroom in 1928 was a place where young Detroiter￿s could dance, listen to jazz and big band sounds. It became famous in music history with big names as MC5, and The Stooges. The building was designed with stores on the main floor and a large ballroom on the second floor. It was designed on the Moorish Deco style, with the dance floor on springs that gave the feeling of the floor floating. The dance floor held 1500 dancers in a good night. The final show was on New Year￿s Eve 1972.

Photography has been a lifelong interest of mine and now that I am retired, the free time has allowed me to devote more time and energy to viewing the world through my lens.
