Description
This painting shows an angular great blue heron wading in the shallow water. I also added a little funny looking frog on a lily pad. I never liked the way that heron's necks bend kind of crooked, so I "normalized" the heron's neck a bit to my taste.

Thanks Jacqueline. I finished this piece about four years after I started it, and in the time it took to complete, the piece became more and more polished, which was not my original intention. When I began, I wanted it to be a new style for me; loose and textural...but old habits intervened and it became very tight and graphic. I am trying to be more loose with my new paintings, and I am finally learning how to make them look "finished" instead of just "messy." I think a blend of both is a good goal.
