Description
We were visiting Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge again. Not much going on I thought, then this guy decided to fly over to the beach to eat his catch. I was delighted to see this and catch the shot. September 2011. The Great Egret can be distinguished from the Great Blue Heron white morph by the color of the legs. Great Egret has black legs while the white morph of the Great Blue Heron has yellow legs. A group of egrets has many collective nouns, including a "congregation", "heronry", "RSVP", "skewer", and "wedge" of egrets.

Well Michael. What a nice comment you have given to me, and thank you for the V&F. I think what is showing is a labor of love. I do get a kick out of birds, critters, and just getting anywhere that is not "cement or asphalt"! My husband is a great supporter, and "we" would rather go on a pick nick than out to eat in a restaurant.

Thanks Jeff. I did not realize what I had until I got it to the computer. I was just shooting pictures cause he was moving fast.

That is funny. He did not catch it mid air but normally in the water. Something must have tried to take it away from the egret cause it flew across a ways and sat down to eat it there.

Thank you David. It is a labor of love so I just go out and see what I can see. Sometimes I get lucky.

Thanks David. You know how it is, you spend hours on location and see something and start shooting, but it is only when you get it to the computer do you see the good one you captured. He flew right in front of me over to another place in the tidal flats. Then he just gulped it down. LOL
