I watched this Great Horned Owl couple for quite a while from the car window. They were sitting together in the tree, quietly hooting to each other, back and forth. I imagined them saying sweet nothings to each other -- after all, this is mating and breeding season for these owls. When the male suddenly took off flying, I was ready!

Fantastic, Judy!! What a great capture. Such beautiful birds. Ours at the national wildlife refuge had no luck with their eggs last year, and this year we still have not seen any young, though the pair of adults seem to be hanging around near a nesting cavity. Keeping my fingers crossed that the young are just late this year. lf

Thank you, L'ina! GHOs are amazing! Often the younger owls aren't as good at the whole nesting thing as the more experienced birds, which have better success. I hope all works well this year for your two -- I'll keep my fingers crossed as well!
