Description
The cute little American green tree frog ( Hyla cinerea) couldn't have found a better plant for natural camouflage. The plant spike is close to the same green as that of the frog. And look at those white lines on the frog's mouth and legs. They mimic those on the middle and edges of the plant on which the frog is perched. Yes, I know - the camouflage couldn't have been perfect because I did find him. But that was because I knew these frogs were in the area and after a long hunt. These little guys, which grow up to 2 1/2 inches long, are often kept as pets. They are the state amphibians of Louisiana and Georgia.
