Description
Gruene Dance Hall Area B W - Gruene is an area located just within New Braunfels city limits which was settled in the 1940a by German immigrant farmers. The Ernst Gruene family which is also the towns name, oraganized the town with a store, gristmill and a saloon, dance hall and community center. Also the name Gruene is pronounced "Green". The Gruene led the way to build a community for the cotton farmers. This is the oldest dance hall in Texas built somewhere in the late 1878 by the Gruene as he started this community just outside of New Braunfels Tx. Gruene Hall is still in business today with a saloon or bar and dance hall. The neon signs were all along the back hall all advertising many different beers in the main dance hall behind the bar in black and white. Also along the back wall or boxes and boxes of different beers stack up waiting for a busy night to get used. You can see the different carvings on the long wooden tables in the dance hall over the many years of use. Gruene is visited by many as it is one of the top destinations for tourist to visit in the Texas hill country year round. This is a historic place and is on the national register of historic places.
