Description

Today was the first time I have ever captured an image of the scales that make up the stripes on a Gulf Fritillary butterfly. As I reviewed the images I saw something shimmering in some of the photos and when I zoomed in I could clearly see the content of the stripes that look like a strand of beads. Apparently the pigment in all butterfly wings is made up of these scales.
