Description
This lone limber pine, Pinis flexilis, is hanging on to the edge at Inspiration Point in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. Because of its exposed location, wind and water have stunted its growth and eroded the sandstone around its roots, leaving it almost bare and looking as if it is standing on its tiptoes. But still it clings tenaciously to the canyon rim - I think I would, too, if I had this view.

What an amazing thing to see this tall pine on such an inhospitable spot! The whole scene, while desolate, is very beautiful. v and tw
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you, Carla. The pine may look tall because of the perspective - I was, of necessity, shooting up at it - but for a pine, it is actually small. But you are right about its being amazing and the spot it is growing in being inhospitable for sure :) Thank you for the visit and comment.

Stunning capture, Nikki, and filled with life-lessons. Love how you saw and presented this beautiful scene. l/f
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you very much, Connie. It was getting late when I took this and it was one of my favorites of the day (which had been full of inspirational photo ops).
