Description
The view is from Edgewater Park in Cleveland, across the expanse of Lake Erie, and to the Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse. In the foreground, waves crash against the large pieces of anti-erosion riprap all along the shore. The day is a cloudy, windy, and stormy one, which always adds to the drama of such a watery scene.
The Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse sits at the end of the west breakwater leading to the Port of Cleveland, north of the mouth of the Cuyahoga River. It was built in 1911, automated in 1965, and still alert ships with its light every five seconds.
