A colorful example of tropical art from Hawaii. The Bird of Paradise grows all over the state, especially on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. This digital watercolor will make a wonderful addition to any tropical decor.
I've lived in Hawaii since 2002, 1200 feet above sea level, on the small rural island of Moloka'i. It is very quiet here, with only about 7,400 residents. I appreciate the quiet life after spending 35 years as a commercial illustrator, senior art director and design director for major advertising agencies and design studios in Chicago, San Francisco and Palo Alto California. I've always loved cooking. In 2002 that love led me to a degree in the Culinary Arts just before moving to Hawaii. Since then I designed and built a house, worked in local restaurants, self-published three cookbooks, and took up photography as a hobby. Now retired, I spend most of my time developing recipes and photographing them, plus researching and writing...

Lovely work here James, I like the colors and The Bird of Paradise is an amazing flower. My biggest goal in life was to see Hawaii but now it can't ever happen due to health. But through your eyes and art and other Photographers I feel like I am actually seeing it first hand. Just beautiful. L/F/P
James Temple replied:
You are so nice! Sorry about your health, at 74 I can relate. I love the bird of paradise, I planted them all over my yard. I think they are so beautiful and tropical looking. It should the the state flower in my opinion, instead it's the hibiscus. How boring!
