During my research in my first jazz piece of Erroll Garner I came across many exciting and wonderful jazz artists and had a hard time trying to pick the next artist I wanted to capture. John Coltrane stood out first and while listening to his music I felt his presence and felt this would be my second jazz piece. While painting, I listened to the best of John Coltrane on YouTube continually in order to capture his spirit. I feel I accomplished this as do others who have viewed it. They mention that they can hear John's music!
John William Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and later was at the forefront of free jazz.
