One winter morning, I found this Red Cardinal perched on this piece of wood outside our kitchen window. It had snowed overnight and the brilliant red of this male song bird contrasted so beautifully against the white snow.
Making a photograph is oftentimes much easier than coming up with a title, for me anyway. So I posed the question on my Jim Cook Photography page on Facebook. Asking viewers for their suggestions. I received many but chose "Heaven Sent" since there is the popular belief that when Cardinals appear Angels are near.

My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
