Summer Solstice, 2008, the air was thick and the clouds moving quickly. Little did we know the storm that was building would start more lightning strikes and fires than known in northern California history. Over 54,800 acres burned from the lightning strikes in Mendocino County alone. There are several other photos taken within minutes of this: 'Calm Before the Really Big Storm', and 'The Warning'. To create the impressionist composition, I used electronic filters. Please click on an area to see a closeup.
