I love my new bag. It is so beautiful. I work in schools with children who have hearing loss and they love my bag. I get to share information about hearing loss with teachers in the school when they ask about the lovely picture. I also tell them about Ms. Soares. Thanks for sharing her story. It makes the picture even more unique. I had a difficult time choosing from all the options just related to hearing but fell in love with all of her offerings on this site. The quality of the bag is great also.

I absolutely LOVE Monica's artwork and it's extra special to be able to carry her artwork around with me wherever I go. Quality of the bag is good, too!

I’m very pleased with my Back2bike bag from artist John Kurtyka. The bag is high quality so it holds my library books quite securely. And since I’m a bike rider, I love the picture, so unique, people notice it and comment so I tell them about this website and the unique works of this artist.

Artist's Description

Tulips were originally a wild flower growing in Central Asia and were first cultivated by the Turks as early as 1,000 AD. The flower was introduced in Western Europe and the Netherlands in the 17th century by Carolus Clusius, a famous biologist from Vienna. In the 1590's he became the director of the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden, the oldest botanical garden of Europe, founded in 1587. Clusius was hired by the University of Leiden to research medicinal plants and while doing so he obtained bulbs from Turkey from Ogier Ghiselain de Busbecq, the ambassador of Constantinople - present-day Istanbul. de Busbecq named the tulip after the Turkish word for turban, grown in the palace gardens and sent a few of the brightly colored flowers to Clusius for his lovely garden in Leiden where they were quickly planted. This was the start of the amazing bulb fields we find today. In the beginning of the 17th century, the tulip began as a garden decoration but soon gained major popularity as a trad...

About Jon Burch Photography

Photography is all about using light to capture the emotion and the beauty of a fleeting moment. For me, this adventure began with a single spring image using a small Kodak film camera of a freshly watered central Kansas ditch and has come full circle using modern digital techniques. My first camera was an old 35mm Yashica, acquired by trading an ancient Royal typewriter to a fellow college student who was desperate to finish a term paper. It was a long time ago and that camera was my passport to an art that has fascinated me ever since. I owned a professional studio in central Kansas for 20 years until I sold the business and moved to Colorado. Part of the studio's early success came from creating outdoor...
