I came across this hedge row in a field southeast of Wichita, Kansas one late winter day, sometime in the 70's. The field was just beginning to show signs of Spring, the melting snow bank a reminder of another harsh winter. Some of the ice has melted in the field, probably to refreeze several times before winter finally leaves. This painting is the home of long time friends near Gladstone,MO.
