I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

The Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) is the most common and widespread of the large gulls. This species shows much variation in plumage and physical features. The American Herring Gull (Larus argentatus smithsonianus) is a subspecies that breeds in North America (Canada, Alaska, Great Lakes, and Eastern coast from Maine to North Carolina). It measures about 25 inches in length and about 2.5 pounds in weight. Adult birds ate white with a gray back, gray wings, black wingtips, pink legs, orange-yellow orbital ring, pale yellow iris, and a powerful yellow bill with a red spot on the lower mandible. Preferred habitat includes coast, lakes, and garbage dumps. Diet commonly includes fish and marine invertebrates (crabs, mussels, clams).
This Herring Gull in flight prior to sunset was photographed at Southport Beach, Southport, Connecticut on 11-13-2015. I used a Nikon D810 camera body and a Nikon 500mm f/4 vr2 lens to capture this image.
