Description
We spent the day at Island Beach State Park photographing the beautiful dunes, ocean and wildlife. I would have liked to have seen the moon rise over the ocean from there but we had to be out by sunset.
Though the weather was not cooperating during the entire daytime hours, just at sunset there were a few glimpses of blue in the sky instead of clouds. So we went from there to Seaside Heights and waited for the moon, but it was still too cloudy for that. Finally around 8:00 pm. There it was, peaking from behind the clouds. And as the night went on it got clearer and clearer. Finally as the eclipse started the view was awesome!!!!
Island Beach State Park is a preserved barrier island that protects a number of natural shoreline and near shore habitats. The park contains almost ten miles of sandy beach, an extensive shoreline along Barnegat Bay, dense maritime forests, rolling sand dunes, and tidal marshes. This unique environment host a variety of habitats for a multitude of maritime plants and wildlife.
