Dear Mrs. Hough, the wall in our living room is still covered with Delft-blue tiles. The house was originally built for a beer handler, not very rich (like an Amsterdam "koopman") but, for a villager, well-to-do. So Delft-blue tiles were used, no polychrome. Hillegom was destroyed by the Spanish troops during the 80-year-war (1568-1648). After that war, our house was one of the first "new" houses in Hillegom. It was built over the basement that was left from an old abbey that was destroyed during the war.

Polychrome of minder kleurike? MVG, tbh

Nice drawing: I live there with my family, in that very old little house at the right, with the strangely curved front. It's from 1651, we still have the old tiles and such.
