The Hinjewadi corporate technology region of Pune, Maharashtra, India is growing at a blinding pace, with buildings like these at fifteen stories being poured into place. Other than the ubiquitous beat up old delivery trucks of varying sizes, the entire building has been built from the foundation up entirely by direct human power. Cement ready for pouring, bricks, windows and every other item or material is lifted to the next floor to be finished, one at a time until the top floor is reached.

90% of the buildings use the same formula, with poured and shaped cement to create a shell, and a veneer of glass for the outside; the interior is similarly veneered with paint, carpet and other coverings, and quickly ready for occupancy.

After generations in the very same construction site, entire families are first shuffled around the lot into shanties and every available room in the unfinished building as it grows. When completed (in months), the people are left out on the new str...
