I originally created this image for a new show at NBC called Access Hollywood. At the time I did not feel that anyone would watch a show about celebrity news. Was I wrong! My original was on 8X10 film. I modified it to create the night scene with Live Picture. This is a night scene with Hollywood sign illuminated and kleig lights tracing in the sky
Richard Lund entered the film industry in 1980. He did specialized photography making background pictures for motion pictures and television. He shot 8x10 plates for his first movie in Riverside California. The film was Buddy, Buddy directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. He printed the pictures with a crew on Kodak Translite film. Thus began his career. Personally he photographed large format images for 240 feature films and a lot of television. Additionally he supervised production of about two thousand background pictures. He originated the Chromatrans full color backgrounds, inventing the seaming process for this new style polyester based film. (The original Translites were black and white with color...
