The beach towel is really just for laying on inasmuch as it is too big and heavy to put around your body, which is just fine. The artwork in it is beautiful. I can't wait to use it.

Wow - I didn't realise it was going to be that big! It's a gift for a young member of the family - I think he'll be thrilled as he's a tractor fanatic at 6 years old. A practical gift too. The towel has a smoother upper side so it'll be more comfortable to sit on at the beach. It seems to have a thick absorbent power so no usual skinny beach towel.

very nice, love the colour not keen on the white tastle border but i like it, i'm going to use it as blanket for my hamock,
For some reason, as a child, I had recurring nightmares with bears being the point of terror. By the time I reached teenaged years, I had learned to control the dreams and divert them from nightmare bears into friendly bears. I live in the foothills of the Crazy Mountains in the great state of Montana and bears are always a concern when camping. I have also lost livestock to bear predation and know that the bears are just being bears. While the bear has the potential to turn back into that childhood nightmare, I choose caution. In paint, like dreams, I will keep them friendly..
Mia DeLode is a fourth generation rancher from central Montana. Born and bred to be part of the rural west, she is an accomplished painter, sculptor, and writer of the culture, animals, people and the humor that is unique to western living. Her paintings appear in many shows and her writing has been featured in Crazy Woman Creek published by Mariner Books, a three part anthology of western women. She was given special recognition by the Montana Great Falls Historical Museum for her work titled "1890's First Responders" featuring the last working team of fire horses in the United States. Her oil paintings are bold in color and texture using thin glazes, heavy brushstrokes and palette knife. Mia's paintings evoke the emotion of the time...

Wow Mia, another extremely powerful work. A bear portrait! When do you ever see that? Wonderfully rendered. I was reading about the Pony Express the other day and wondered if you had ever approached that subject. If anybody could do it successfully, you could. Awesome painting Mia! LF!
Mia DeLode replied:
Thanks, Bob!! I go camping quite a bit and have an active imagination--I choose to make my bears friendly because I don't want to even contemplate the alternative! And yes, the pony express is on my to do list! Finding accurate reference has held me back--can't do it until I have my facts right--I am hoping to gleen some good info in my travels this fall.
