This is a Native American Hopi Indian woman weaving one of her beautiful baskets with samples of her wares next to her. Her cat is secretly hiding inside the old door. She wears an exquisite handmade shawl along with her special turquoise jewelry that is so traditional and part of the many beautiful crafts produced by the tribe . The Hopi are native to northeastern Arizona and reside on a reservation in that area. Their name, "Hopi" means "Peaceful Person". They have been referred to as "Pueblo People" in the past as they reside in villages of constructed homes. The Hopi have always viewed their land as sacred. Agriculture is a very important part of their culture, and their villages are spread out across the northern part of Arizona.
