About Barbara Lowe

Barbara Ann Lowe is a Native American artist. She was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in 1950, and grew up in southern California. While still in high school, Barbara studied figure drawing on a Saturday scholarship at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. After graduation, she was allowed to participate in a summer program near Patzquaro, Mexico, and later at California College of Arts and Craft's main campus in Oakland, California. Barbara traveled Mexico and Europe before becoming a mom, and spent most of the next 18 years raising her family in Washington state. She earned an ATA in automotive mechanics, and graduated with honors from Skagit Valley College. This led to a career in aviation, where she became proficient at...
