There is something romantic to me about the notion of living on a houseboat. I associate it with a footloose, fancy free, carefree lifestyle where one floats along, aimlessly - if he or she pleases, from one beautiful spot to another. As someone who loves the water, it seems to me to be the ultimate in rest and relaxation, and peace and serenity.
On a recent eco tour boat trip on the Apalachicola and St. Marks rivers, I was interested to discover a number of houseboats, such as this one, nestled into a cozy spot on the river. Most of these are stationery structures, and most serve as fish camps. While that doesn't exactly fit my romanticized stereotypical notion of a houseboat, I must admit to being intrigued by all these little structures tucked into spots near the river bank. They just looked so cute and appealing and inviting!
