English Springer Spaniel.
My excited neighbor's dog. Unsure of my presence, started barking, howling and running crazy around his yard.
This high-spirited tail-wagger needs at least one long vigorous run every day. Without exercise an English Springer Spaniel can be a boisterous handful, especially when young.
His opinion of strangers varies from friendly to reserved. Most are good watchdogs, but not guardians.
The English Springer Spaniel is a medium-sized sporting dog, with a compact body. His coat is moderately long, with feathering on his legs, ears, chest and brisket. This one does not have his tail cropped. His pendulous ears, soft gentle expression, sturdy build and friendly wagging tail proclaim him unmistakably a member of the ancient family of Spaniels. An affectionate, excitable breed, they are used as sniffer dogs on a widespread basis. The term springer comes from the historic hunting role, where the dog would flush (spring) birds into the air.
