There had been very little precipitation in Ricketts Glen, for more than a month. A nice steady rain had fallen here during the overnight and early morning hours. The rain ended shortly before I arrived here, breathing new life into the flow of Kitchen Creek. If not for that very welcome drenching, this waterfall might have looked much less compelling than it appeared while I was there.

The site is located on the Glen Leigh Trail. It is some distance upstream from Ozone Falls and just a stone�s throw below the Shawnee Waterfall.

This photograph was captured on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014, on a solo autumn hike through Ricketts Glen. The photo was shot with a Canon EOS 5D camera through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, at the 20mm focal length. The exposure was 1.3 seconds at f/9, ISO 100. A 77mm ND-4 Neutral Density filter was mounted on the lens. The camera was securely mounted on a Manfrotto 055CLB tripod with a Manfrotto 222 pistol grip head. A remote shutter release...

Capturing the beauty and complexity of nature is my main interest, from macro close-ups to wide vistas views ...and everything in between. Natural waterfalls are the most frequent photographic subjects found at the business end of my lens.
