I jogged past this hydrangea a couple times and was struck by the lovely delicate colors in the blossoms, so I finally went back with my camera to capture the image. I didn't have time to paint it when it was in bloom, so I've tackled it in the depths of winter using my photos for reference. The flower is painted in many layers of transparent watercolor with touches of gouache here and there.
