Another painting in response to the election, and the threat of taking away women's rights. We need to have a loud voice and protect our rights or they can be taken away from us. It is our right as Americans to fight for minorities, women and children. this painting has two hidden guns under the pillow, which symbolize our right to bare arms, and protect ourselves.
My artistic work is as an expressive self-portrait painter. Even though my subjects look nothing like me, my work is a form of documentation and journal painting, a study of human behavior. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, I majored in Fine Arts at Brooklyn College, and eventually found myself living and working in Los Angeles. My fascination with faces grew out of an intense desire for expressing myself. I was raised in the 1950s and 1960s when women and children were expected to keep their opinions to themselves. So my mother became my study. Her expressions often shifted, and it seemed that anything could make her face and mood change. So I watched her and all of her moods. Thus my art became my secret communication, with no words...
