My son Lex and I had just finished a glorious winter hike on the Marshall Mesa trail, near where we live just south of Boulder, Colorado. This is our "go to" hike, and I have gleaned a great deal of inspiration for my paintings while walking along the hilly trail with its spectacular views of our front range vista. After our hike, we posed with a giant icicle for a photograph which I used as a reference for this portrait. Remembering this happy moment makes me smile.
