So I odered greeting card and delivery was great (special package so it wouldn't get bent or anything). Really high quality with super resolution. Couldn't be happier and totally worth the price (shipping is expensive though). 10/10 would order again.

Artist's Description

Artwork illustrating the process of mammalian fertilisation, showing penetration of an ovum or egg by a single spermatozoon. The sperm has successfully penetrated the layers of follicular cells, the corona radiata, which envelop the egg & broken through the underlying glycoprotein membrane or zona pellucida to begin its journey towards the ovum's nucleus. Numerous competing sperms are prevented from participating by rapid changes in the chemical nature of the zona pellucida. Fertilisation occurs when male & female pronuclei fuse; a zygote thus formed begins to develop through dividing by binary fission.

About Francis Leroy, Biocosmos

Science Photo Library was founded in 1981 by Michael Marten, one of the authors of "Worlds Within Worlds", a book exploring different ways to observe the universe - from electron micrographs, to images of earthrise taken from the Apollo spacecraft. When Marten started receiving requests for the beautiful images in the book, he had an idea of setting up Science Photo Library. Since then, Science Photo Library has continued to work alongside world acclaimed photographers and the leading science and medical experts to provide a central source of the best science and specialist imagery available. Although the collection started with scientific images, it has grown to encompass all aspects of science and their impact on everyday life.
