Description
This old combine is finishing it's retirement on the edge of a wheat field that it has no doubt traveled miles over. With today's behemoth equipment, I'm sure young people can hardly imagine a combine without an air-conditioned cab, a stereo, 2-way radio, etc. Even harder for them might be that when this old man of a machine was new, it was leaps and bounds ahead of what it replaced. Life goes on.

Thanks a million Scott. I'd not thought of that, but now that you've brought it to my attention, it does make it kind of cool.

Great shot... I love the sky. It is fitting that it is resting next to the dead tree.. f/v.

Thanks so much Diane. As far as I know, it's still sitting there, and I took this at least 5 years ago.

Absolutely great image...looks like it just ran out of breath and there it remained. Nice sky, jagged tree, and love the lighting of the grasses in the foreground.

I can imagine the summer months must be pretty uncomfortable. Is it mostly the humidity? I was born and raised in Missouri, and have lived in Arkansas. I don't handle humidity like I did when I was a kid and didn't know any better. We never had air conditioning, so just did what we did. I don't know especially why, but I would love to see Savannah. I love the history of the South. Ah well. That's what books are for. Take care my friend. Have a great week.
