Description
Impala. Young male (right) and female (left) impala (Aepyceros melampus). Impala live on plains and grassland in eastern and southern Africa. Herds usually comprise a dominant male, females and their offspring. Impala are renowned for their leaping when startled or attacked. They can jump up to three metres into the air. The jumps are thought to confuse predators. Photographed in Ngala Game Reserve, South Africa.
