Incandescent Wonder - Art and Poetry by Aberjhani Book Cover (Silk-Featherbrush Number 16)
About a year ago I announced on my website and social media that I was considering publishing a book of my poetry combined with my art. I intended to start by identifying poems, gathering existing art as well as creating new images, and designing pages for the proposed work. Of course Life had different plans in the works and I ended up focusing on other projects.
But as 2018 shuts down and 2019 gets cranked up, I can say I've started work in earnest on the book project, currently titled INCANDESCENT WONDER. At the moment I do not have an official publisher for the title so am open to discussing possibilities. The artwork posted here is 1 of 3 pieces under consideration for use on the front cover. It fits well because the chromatic waves and swirls provide an accurate illustration of the themes of inspired possibilities and sudden revelations which characterize much of the poetry.
At the lower center is a golden rose representative of the cultural "blossoming" known as the Harlem Renaissance. With 2019 being the year many cultural arts organizations have chosen as their starting points for celebrations of the Harlem Renaissance Centennial, now is the perfect time to push ahead with this particular work.
In some ways, the volume could be described as part 2 of "ELEMENTAL, The Power of Illuminated Love." The obvious huge difference is that my honored co-creator on ELEMENTAL, Luther E. Vann, is now resting in well-earned peace even as his aesthetic genius continues to influence some of my canvases.

My most recently-completed book manuscripts are nonfiction memoirs but poetry has always been an important part of my creative life and apparently always shall be. Can't really think of a better way creativity-wise to close out 2018 & open up 2019 than by re-committing to the INCANDESCENT WONDER project.
