Indian rhinoceroses (Rhinoceros unicornis). Female rhino and its calf grazing. The Indian rhinoceros is found in Nepal and Assam, India. A female rhinoceros gives birth to a single calf. The gestation period is around 16 months and the calf will remain with the mother for several years. An adult can run up to speeds of 34 miles per hour (mph) for short periods of time and feeds mainly on grasses, leaves, aquatic plants and fruits. This rhinoceros is an endangered species. Photographed in Kaziranga National Park, India.
