Description
A wonderful sunrise at the Blast Furnaces and a Visitors center in Bethlehem Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania USA. Once the second largest steel maker in the United States. Now, an outdated relic of days gone by. A leftover shell of a steel baron's cash cow and a once provider for tens of thousands of hard workers.

DJ this is awesome. I've always felt there is such a powerful majesty in structures like this. They're almost eerily powerful ... almost scary!!!!! I have a couple of childhood memories that I'd love to have a chat with my parents about being taken to places like this when I was very little ... scared the youknowwhat out of little-kid-me ... but those memories definitely lend to the fascination I feel as an adult!!! Great, super capture ... great recalling of memory for many besides myself, as well!!!! Fabulous that you were there at sunrise to capture the unique contrast between the soft and gentle sky of Mother Nature and the rigid lines and heavy textures created by mankind!!!! l/f t p and fb

Thanks much for sharing... This is quite the landmark not so far away from our home. Since the closing of the mill, They have opened a casino, shopping mall, museum, arts center and much more to come in the shadow of this relic. I personally like it better as a backdrop to all these wonderful things rather than the cancer spewing industrial site that it once was. Important in our history yes, And lots of Jobs.. But worth the loss of all of our fathers to cancer ? Not worth it to me. I do love to photograph it though... from every angle imaginable and every light opportunity. Thanks again for the wonderful comments Lois.
