This image is based on a an aperiodic non repeating five fold tile pattern known as Penrose tiling. These tiles will fill an infinite plain without ever quite repeating exactly, always one more variation in the pattern. The line of lighter green leaves snaking through this image could follow a convoluted infinite path, or it could loop around on itself in a pentagonal rosette if the larger pattern were viewed. There is something of the beautiful chaos of nature in these infinitely variable patterns.
