The beach towel is really just for laying on inasmuch as it is too big and heavy to put around your body, which is just fine. The artwork in it is beautiful. I can't wait to use it.

Wow - I didn't realise it was going to be that big! It's a gift for a young member of the family - I think he'll be thrilled as he's a tractor fanatic at 6 years old. A practical gift too. The towel has a smoother upper side so it'll be more comfortable to sit on at the beach. It seems to have a thick absorbent power so no usual skinny beach towel.

The St. Charles Ave. streetcar is the green one!! I shot this as it stopped for passengers on Canal and St.Charles Ave. If you look closely on the left out of a window, you can see the red streetcar that travels on Canal, by the riverfront, and out to the NOMA (museum) in City Park. For more info on our streetcar - not trolley--history please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streetcars_in_New_Orleans
I am Kathleen K. Parker, a native of New Orleans. Thanks, Michael, Dorothy, and Steve. Riding the streetcar can be really interesting, a great study of people as well as a great way to shoot photos you might not otherwise get outside of the streetcar. The woman on the right is a friend of mine from Atlanta. She was visiting, and I was taking her on all the gotta do things. In fact, we traveled everywhere uptown and downtown NOLA on the streetcar. It was really fun...and more. Well, you meet people on there... one woman was on the run from a battering man. She told us she had no money. Everyone on that streetcar at that moment dug in their purse or wallet and pulled out a dollar or two. There were not a lot of us. Maybe a dozen. But she got some bucks. I love riding the streetcar. Always have. When I was a child, it was segregated. My sisters and I rode in the very back with our maid who in those days was like one's second mom. I never understood segregation and probably never will like others do because we were happy sitting back there laughing with everyone and crossing ourselves when we passed by Catholic churches. Every Catholic did it here. I wasn't one and was told I should not do it. I did it anyway. Yes, if you are wondering; I am a born and bred New Orleanian. And I love to share my pics --my views about my city with anyone who wants to look and understand us here. We are not usual folks! :)) kk
