Description
“The night unlocks my flesh like a book
and what earlier fell apart comes together again.”
(from poet “Thoughts on the Future” published in ELEMENTAL, the Power of Illuminated Love)
Most of us have seen movies which depict post-apocalyptic scenarios in which people behave both heroically and heinously. Some feel the true-to-life year 2020 fit that Hollywood description. The big difference in our real lives is the destructive scenario was brought on by a terrorist of microscopic proportions tagged COVID-19 rather than nuclear bombs. The majority of us have survived it up to this point due to the unified labors of love and dedication performed by many recognized and unrecognized people.
The introduction of multiple vaccines to combat the coronavirus pandemic makes it possible to begin imagining life in a post COVID-19 world. The artwork viewed here, titled “Inspired Labors of Love and Dedication in a Post COVID-19 World,” represents the work now underway to reestablish measures of balance in communities knocked off their collective social, political, and economic footing. The blue, green, red, brown, pink, gold, black, violet, and yellow globe in the center is energized but still setting aligning itself. In the horizontal abstract landscape above it, a future more harmonious version the same image is shown.
I preferred a raw expressionistic abstract landscape style for this piece instead of Silk-Featherbrush Artstyle because abstract in this instance seems to express more precisely the current tension between uncertainty and determination. Also, the applied palette for this piece differs from the work titled “Stormy Day in Washington DC” but the two are actually companion visual commentaries.
There is a lot to be thankful and hopeful for where the development of coronavirus vaccines is concerned. Yet everybody knows real recovery is going to be anything but easy and will involve more than just economics or politics. Not a lot has been said about persistent health impairments from SARS-CoV-2 (the actual virus that causes COVID-19) but many have reported lingering brain function issues. That means, at the very least, that we should probably turn the acts of compassion and considerations we’ve been striving to fine-tune for the sake of surviving 2020 into more permanent components of world culture. Who knows how handy might be when the next crisis goes “Boom!” in our lives?
