This is a Tulip Prickly Pear Cactus. In our Arizona Sonoran Desert, this Tulip Prickly Pear Cactus only blooms in the springtime. There are more than a dozen varieties of prickly pear cactus.
This capture was right in my own desert garden of joy. It has such a delightful, overlapping of yellow petals when fully opened. Exposing the reddish-pink interior. This variety of prickly pear has LONG, wicked looking spines, making me leery of this "Intimate Approach." So glad I did.

Keeping my distance is what I have to do when photographing some of the tulip prickly pear flowers, depending on where they located on the plant. If need be, I try to use my life long lens. But it freaks out if I try to get in too close. So I stick (no pun intended) to the ones on the outer edge. Thank you for stopping by my gallery and for your continued support of my artwork.
