Description
Inverted Lights at Trawscoed Aberystwyth Welsh Landscape Abstract Art was painted in artist’s acrylic paint on panel then varnished and subsequently framed in a light coloured wood to complement the colours used within the painting - with these being black, blue, white and yellow ochre.
It is not a wintry snow painting. Instead it is a painting depicting light. The colours were chosen mainly to simulate an analogue negative of a photographic print of the same river scene at Trawscoed hence the part title of Inverted Lights.
In reality and at the time of painting it was a bright sunny day!
The composition shows the Ystwyth river, two side banks, a top bank where the river turns to the right and beyond the seemingly bleached white tree. The area and its road approach is situated between the B4340 and the B4575. These two roads are close to the A487 at Llanfarian en route to Aberystwyth and the A485.
If you spend a few moments studying this natural abstract painting you might be surprised to see several hidden faces and an impression of a snow queen although she simulates light and not snow. All the faces just appeared and without any conscious effort from me.
The largest face seems to be that of a Nethanderal man. This takes up most of the left hand side of the distant trees and the Ystwyth river; Afon Ystwyth. Perhaps this was a habitat of a Nethanderal man?
Other faces that have been spotted are that of a dog on the extreme left in the upper wooded area in addition to many other animal faces in the same area and surrounding the main bleached tree and its network of branches and foliage in between.
You can see some cartoon looking faces among the yellow ochre coloured stones in the left foreground or bottom left of this artwork.
The painting was made with many layers of translucent paint and a couple of my then favourite brushes. It took many hours over several days to complete.
The original painting is for sale and is on display in my private gallery below my art studio.
