Salton Sea State Recreation Area covers 14 miles of the northeastern shore and has long been a popular site for campers, boaters and anglers. Increasing salinity in the Salton Sea basin has limited the number of types of fish that can be found there, and most fish currently caught are Tilapia. Varner Harbor within the SRA provides easy access to the sea for boating and water skiing. Kayakers, camp...

Mary Wolf
Wow, love this gorgeous scene, Laurie! I enjoyed reading your description of the Salton Sea, also, as I was unfamiliar with it. What a beautiful place it must be, after seeing your exquisite images of it. L/F
Laurie Search replied:
Hi Mary!! Thank you so, so much!! I really appreciate it!! I'm glad you liked the description, too, but it seems so inaccurate to me, to tell you the truth! It is an amazing place, but one that has been mostly deserted...unfinished buildings and piers are on its shores...There is a definite eeriness to the place...It's worth seeing for sure...I love it there..but it's not really a place one goes for "recreation"....unless that recreation is taking pictures, lol!! :)
