The Wyoming winter abounds with jackrabbits so large, tourists have been known to mistake one for a baby antelope. They lope across the snowdrifts by the mile, and their large round tracks can be confused with those of a coyote. White in winter, mottled brown in summer, their long legs and ears distiguish them from the much smaller cottontails. The Horned Lark is another hardy Wyoming winter survivor, and their delicate cries are a welcome accompaniment to the snow floating down from the sky.

I have been an artist since I was knee high to a short-horned locust. My dad, Willoughby Senior (FAA) was a professional artist and writer and I have stepped in his shoes since I was born, though he drew horses better than I did when I was a kid. My family lived in a hand-hewn log cabin we built ourselves in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and had no water or electricity. I love my life with my husband and family in Wyoming among the horses, gophers, deer, antelope, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, and the wild landscape. My work is driven by the land, animals, wild plants and birds I have come to know so well. Hummingbirds still try to get nectar from my upturned fingers.
