When I was young, my uncle owned a XK 120 in white with the red interior. After his passing, we found a photograph of the car, but no documentation as to what he did with it. Thank you for the memories.

Many thanks for the feature Nop in your group Gaz Stations of the World.

Thank you Donna for that nice comment, I remember the days when a classic such as this could be had for hundreds rather than thousands of pounds. My first car which I bought in 1960 was a 1934 Austin Seven cost me £7.10s, yes SEVEN which in those days was about a week's wages!

You are amazing Mike! This is a great painting! I had an XK140 back in 1972 just like this one only it was a hard top. There were only about 300 made and about 100 imported. I was very sorry when we sold it. Years later I found out that a new boss I had bought it. We had a lot of laughs about that.

I ordered this bag to be used by my very handsome 84 year old gentleman friend when he goes to water aerobics with me everyday, He grew up in Harvey Illinois as the oldest of five children in a economically challenged family. There were no books in his home and he was thrilled to find a public library where they let you borrow books to take home and read. It was the start of a lifetime of the love of reading and learning and the pathway for financial success. Thank you William Brody for creating this painting.

Artist's Description

When Jaguar cars introduced their XK120 range of sports cars in 1948 the effect was electric, all previous sports cars immediately looked very dated and it set new standards for the industry. It performed even better than it looked thanks to its brilliant ohc engine and, for its day, superb road-holding. It was also relatively inexpensive costing under a 1000 new when most comparable cars were three or even four times as much, truly one of the all time classics but at one time in the 1960s a good second-hand example could be picked up for a few hundred pounds. The XK140 was its updated replacement in1954 and is seen here at a typical roadside filling station. A painting like this of your favourite car British or American would cost 2000, e-mail for details of how to commission a painting. About Mike Jeffries

Mike Jeffries

COMMISSION A PAINTING FROM MIKE. Virtually nobody considered the humble lorry worthy of the subject of a painting until Mike made it so. Years of being at the sharp end of long distance HGV driving has given him an insight and knowledge into the industry that enables Mike to depict lorries as they really were in the past and not the idealized view of the less knowledgeable making him the man to paint an original of your favourite commercial vehicle. He is without a doubt THE lorry artist. Mikes first-hand knowledge of buses as a PSV driver for over forty years gives this area of his work a stamp of authenticity and knowledge of the industry so consequently his depictions of buses and coaches have set a standard that others follow....
