Product Review Image

I bought this in the greeting card form. I have been purchasing cards from Fine Art America for two or three years. Covid might have been some of the reason for looking for cards on the internet. Shops were closed. The main reason I buy cards from FAA is because I got tired of looking for cards at the usual card shops. I could find cards (sometimes) that looked good on the outside but the verses were terrible or it was the other way around...terrible on the outside but maybe a decent verse inside. I pick cards from FAA that fit with the occasion. I figure I can write something on the inside as good as any card company could. I wouldn't buy these cards if I didn't think they were wonderful. The cards are beautiful and excellent quality and the envelopes are equality as good. I am glad I can make a copy of what I've bought so I can keep track of who gets what card. I don't want to send the same card to someone twice. In this case, the card is going to someone for Mother's Day.

Vessel History: # US
-- John G. Munson --
by George Wharton

The self-unloading bulk freighter John G. Munson (2) was built in 1952 as hull # 415 by Manitowoc Shipbuilding, Inc., Manitowoc, WI. The construction was a result of a contract awarded to Manitowoc Shipbuilding by Irvin L. Clymer, president of Bradley Transportation Line in 1950. The new vessel was to be used in the stone trade, limestone in particular. The new self-unloader was launched November 28, 1951 for the Bradley Transportation Line, Rogers City, MI which was part of the Michigan Lime and Chemical Co. division of U.S. Steel Corp. The John G. Munson completed her sea trials on August 12, 1952 and departed on her maiden voyage August 21, 1952 bound for Calcite, MI and her first of many loads of limestone. Of note, the president of Bradl...

About Tom Geiger

Tom Geiger

Coming soon..I grew up in Manitowoc Wisconsin and while going through school worked for my father who owned a meat market and Marine supply. My family seems to have a history of being in or around the marine industry . I grew up in the time s when we had more fleets and more steamboats than there are today. i think once ships get in your blood , it stays in your blood. I love being around water and taking photos of ships whether on the great lakes or on the inland waterways.I now travel the united states looking for photo opportunities and am enjoying retirement. I hope everyone will enjoy seeing my photos and hope they will leave comments as to what they think of them.
