Description
I stopped at the old bridge where the "River Road" used to cross the mouth of Jones Creek. Apparently the construction crews feared they would never get to the bottom when they were carrying in rock for the bridge. This is township property but the local owner has used it now for a tomato garden. When she came over, she said she usually asked people to leave. I smiled and showed her my art. She made an exception for me.
Again I struggled with this painting until I realized that "less was more" and that I could breath life into the scene by not making it photographic. I did paint the broken Muskoka chair with the missing slats exactly as it appeared.
There were still large rafts of diving ducks in the mouth of Jones Creek. They were wonderful to see. I saw all kinds of birds. A small flock of whistlers flew overhead and sounded like a jet going by. Amazing!
The southwest wind had really picked up and I rode 2 to 3 foot waves all the way back. I paddled right into Tolton's Boathouse.
