Description
Pretty golden-centered-white-petaled daisies float through a background of deep forest green, sprinkled with sparkly-sunny pollen bits.
I'm just crazy for daisies. I love all flowers, well, with the exception of philodendron which for some reason I'm wildly allergic to ... not poison ivy if you can believe it ... the house plant ... philodendron. So weird. But ... far as I know they don't flower, so they don't count.
Anyway, I love plants, and flowers in particular. I would be in trouble if anyone asked my favorite. I love each for different reasons. I love daisies for their cheerful, joyful expression ... open arms to the world, bright colors, and the way they pick up and reflect the sunshine. What's not to like?
Leaned some fun stuff about daisies this morning. Did you know that their name, daisy, is actually from the Anglo Saxon “daes eage” which literally mean “day’s eye” ... as what I'm reading says that the daisy flowers actually open at dawn. I can't say if that happens for certain, as my eyes do NOT open at dawn anymore. Or, very rarely. And if they do, they're looking at the coffee maker, not the garden.
Another interesting factoid that I didn't know. I'm reading that the daisy is actually made up of two types of flowers - disk florets and petal-like ray florets. The disk florets are at the center and the ray florets are at the edges, arranged to give the impression of being a single flower. Who knew?
Image created from a photo I snapped of a daisy plant my husband gave me as a surprise. Sketched lightly in Corel Painter 2019 then digitally hand-painted with the beautiful new Sargent brushes and the art pen on the Wacom Intuos 4 tablet.
This image was NOT created using AI - Artificial Intelligence programs.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Oh this is pretty! I have a thing about daisies or rather painting them. Ok, digging the background color choice - really cools the light blue underpainting of the petals in a visually pleasant way. I love the pollen, that texture is brilliant. This is the type of painting I would keep at my desk - where I spend alot of my time. Happy, fun painting.
Lois Bryan replied:
Michael .. this is a very late but very appreciative thank you for your delightful note. I'm so glad you enjoyed the fun that I put into this goofy thing ... daisies are like that ... they bring out the whimsy, don't they!!!! Thank you again!!!
