King Fuad I of Egypt donated columns and alabaster windows for the basilica. The windows are particularly distinctive as I saw no others made of alabaster in any renaissance or later chiesa. For me they simply jumped out of their frames they were so out of place in architecture that should have been full of stained glass. They are distinctive and absolutely wonderful.
